What are we planning to go with the excursion line?

Well we are just starting out with this project. The trail is over 100 miles long. Now there is no way that we could get enough track and rail donated immediately. Then we would have to find some one with the proper equipment to be able to lay that much track. So we will try to get as much track and ties that we can. and lay what we can. The smallest amount that will work to actually run a locomotive on is at least 2 or 3 miles of track.

Well with the trains we would like to have a bunch of different things. We would love to have a Museum to go with the rail line. We would like to team with the other museums in the Klamath Basin.

We would also like to team up with the local farmers and ranchers along the line for possibly some demonstrations along the train line.

We would love to have the local indian tribes come and do a lot of demonstrations. I would love to have a indian village that would be down the line.

Old Orders

Prior to the removal and salvage of OC&E Railroad track, signals,
equipment and other improvements, an Economic Impact Analysis was prepared. The analysis reviewed the economic impacts of various use scenarios of the OC&E right-of-way, it was completed in 1991. Even with the railroad capital improvements in place, the projected revenue for an excursion railroad did not meet M&O costs. Any proposal for resumption of rail operations would need to have a viable business plan with adequate dedicated financial backing. An Interstate Commerce Commission ruling,
supported by principal stakeholders and the public would also be required.  Feel free to contact this office if you would like to discuss this matter further.
